There are innumerable cases where donor organisations and individual donors give handsome donations to various organisations and individuals, and never get to know where the money went. It is possible the money was used genuinely for the purpose. But you need to verify for your own satisfaction.
What verification looks like
SWA's volunteers are spread across several cities. When a donor asks for a case to be verified, a volunteer visits the family or organisation, meets the people involved and files a short report with photographs. The donor gets the report before deciding to give, and can ask for a follow-up visit after.
What it changes
- The most deserving families get the help, not the best-connected ones.
- Donors give with confidence and give again.
- Member NGOs build a track record that brings them more support.
